Marjorie Day Pryce
September 9, 1924 – December 13, 2014
It is with great sadness that we wish to share the passing of Marjorie Pryce in Vernon, BC two months after her 90th birthday.
Marjorie was born in Concert, Alberta to Leonard Buzza Day and Bernice Day.
Marjorie is survived by her loving son Frank (Bonnie) Pryce, her brother Bob (June) Day, sister-in-law Vicki Day and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Edward Pryce and son Leonard Pryce.
Marjorie grew up in Consort Alberta. At 18 she joined the Royal Canadian Airforce. During her time in the RCAF Marjorie took secretarial courses and worked in the control tower in Claresholm, the repair depot in Calgary and then Winnipeg. When the war ended Marjorie was discharged and moved back to Calgary where she worked for Smith Davidson and Co. After a short time she moved on to work for the telephone company as an operator and then supervisor. Marjorie met her husband to-be, Ed, when working in Waterton Lakes, Alberta. They married in Calgary, December 1951 and with Ed working construction moved around and lived a variety of places in BC, one of the most memorable being Holberg on the northern tip of Vancouver Island. Marjorie and Ed started a family in 1954 and finally settled in Vernon in the late 1950’s.
Marjorie worked for BC Gas (Terresen) for over 30 years where she became the office manager and played an integral
part in organizing the first union for female employees in the company. She was ahead of her time.
Marjorie loved to do many things including fishing and going to dances with her husband Ed. After their retirement, they spent many years travelling around the world. Marjorie loved to knit, walk daily and play solitaire. She was an outgoing, vibrant person who was always active and involved in the community and for many years volunteered at the Schubert Center, the VJH Auxiliary and the Alzheimer’s Society.
Marjorie will be remembered by her family and many, many friends. She will be missed.
