Marven Henry (Marv) Hanvold
Marven was born on November 20th, 1936 in Steen, Saskatchewan and passed away into the arms of his Saviour and Lord Jesus Christ on September 9th, 2013 in Vernon, B.C. at the age of 76 years.
Marv was the third oldest of eleven children and along with his older brothers learnt young to work hard to help provide for their family. As a young teen (13-14), he left home to work. His first job was farming in Saskatchewan, he then moved to Medicine Hat, Alberta and later to Dawson Creek, B.C. where he joined some of his siblings that were living there.
Marv became a man of many trades: truck driving, working in the oil industry, carpenter, builder and was also in the funeral business. These trades took him and his family to a number of cities: Ft. Nelson (300 miles up the Alaska Highway), Kelowna, Kamloops and Vancouver before retiring in Vernon.
Marv will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Roseleen to whom he was married for 47 years, his daughter; Wanda (Vic), 3 grandsons, 2 great-grandchildren, 4 adopted grandchildren, 5 adopted great-grandchildren, 3 sisters, 3 brothers along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Marv was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Adaha Hanvold, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the nurses at 2-West in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Renal Ward and the doctors and nurses in the Kelowna General Hospital for their exceptional care. A special thank you to Dr. Chris Cunningham in Vernon and Dr. Michaud in Kelowna for your compassionate care. A sincere thanks to Pastor Gordon Reeves for your faithful visits in Vernon and Kelowna, you are truly the Lord’s shepherd.
At Marv’s request, A Graveside service will be held at Gordondale Cemetery in Gordondale, Alberta on Friday, September 13th, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. with the Reverend Garry Henderson officiating.
