Marvin John Breitkreutz

We regret to announce that Marvin passed away on April 3rd, 2014 in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital at the age of 70 years.

Marvin will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Elnora; his only brother, Al (Bonnie); two nephews, Brad (Judy) and Shane (Cheryl); two grand-nieces, Shalena and Danika; and many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, John in 2011.

Although Marvin was born with cerebral palsy, it never stopped him from leaving tracks of joy through many lives. He always had a smile and an optimistic outlook on life. Marvin was a regular face at the Village Green Mall where he would cruise around in his power chair socializing with friends. He had a passion for the outdoors and he enjoyed getting out to see nature, feeding birds, even hunting and fishing despite lacking mobility, and for many years patiently tying flies to help others catch that elusive trout.

The Funeral Service will be held at Bethel Funeral Chapel on Thursday, April 10th, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor David Reim officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot at Pleasant Valley Cemetery. At the conclusion of the Graveside Service family and friends are invited to a Reception which will take place in the Bethel Tea Room.

As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Marvin to the Good Samaritan Society, 9649-71st Avenue N.W., Edmonton, Alberta T6E 5J2 or the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1503 Pottery Road, Vernon, B.C. V1T 3W6.

We, Marvin’s family would like to thank the staff at Heron Grove where Marvin lived, for the special attention and care he was given which was nothing short of amazing and which enriched his life. We also want to thank Dr. Smylie and his staff who did their best to save a failing heart.
