We wish to announce the recent passing of our precious mother, Eileen Hansen. She was born on the Atlantic Coast, Bay des Chaleur, Dalhousie, New Brunswick in 1933, an Acadian. She went peacefully in her sleep at her home in Vernon. She was a generous soul and faithfully prayed for her children, grandchildren, relatives and her many friends. She was always there to share in times of need and joy.
Mom was an active lady who enjoyed life. Her hands were never idle right to her final days; weaving, knitting, playing cards with friends, playing wordscraper and staying in touch with everyone. Mom enjoyed ballroom dancing, Tai-Chi, hiking, walking, fishing and volunteering. Her adventures took her to Africa, Thailand, Alaska, San Francisco and more. Mom’s life was a constant voyage of learning. She loved life and was adamant about staying active right to the end.
She is survived by her children Claude (Jane), Deborah (Bernard), Beverly (Max), Catherine; her 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; her sister Martha and brothers Albert (Theresa), Ron (Carol) and Leo; her sisters-in-law Louise and Doris, many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
So please put a smile on your face and lift up your heart, as she will always be with us. Heaven has another Saint. We love you Mom and we miss you greatly. Until we meet again.
A Memorial Mass for Eileen will be celebrated on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 9 AM at St. James Church, 2607 27 Street Vernon, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Christian Children’s Fund of Canada or a charity of your choice.
