Jun 3, 1923 - May 19, 2018
Isabelle de Pfyffer passed away peacefully on a beautiful Saturday morning, May 19, 2018, surrounded by her family at her care home just two weeks shy of her 95th birthday.

The second eldest of four, Isabelle was born in Fort William, Ontario (Thunder Bay) to William and Isabel Otway. She studied nursing in Fort William and Toronto, worked and taught at St Paul's Hospital in Vancouver and eventually took a position as Matron at the Queen Victoria Hospital in Revelstoke BC from '53 - '59. There, Isabelle met and married her husband Robert Louis de Pfyffer in 1958. They started their family in Revelstoke before moving and settling in Vernon in 1960 where Isabelle continued working as a home care nurse while raising her four boys. In 1981 she suffered a devastating stroke which ended her career and presented her with ongoing challenges for the rest of her life.

Isabelle maintained a strong positive attitude, a keen sense of humour and a zest for life. She enjoyed swimming, reading, visits with family and friends, and a glass of red wine at dinner. Isabelle was a member of the Catholic Women's League for over 60 years and a founding member of the Vernon Stroke Recovery Club.

She is predeceased by her husband Bob and her sister Dorothy, and survived by her four sons John (Carla), James (June), Michael and Joel (Krista), her sister Marjory, brother Lorne (Norma), and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and in laws of all sorts.

A Celebration of Life will be held at St James Catholic Church in Vernon BC on Saturday, June 2, 2018, at 11:00 am.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vernon Funeral Home, Phone: 250 542 0155
