Mary Kathleen Spurn-Hrenchuk was born on February 3rd, 1913 at Foam Lake, Saskatchewan and passed away peacefully on April 28th, 2008 at Noric House in Vernon, B.C. at the age of 95 years.
Mary will be lovingly remembered by her sons, John (Ina) Spurn of Nakusp, B.C. and Robert (Lenore) Spurn of Paris, Ontario; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; her second husband, Steve Hrenchuk’s children, Wes Hrenchuk of Beaverton, Oregon and Virginia Sherwood of Freeland, Washington and their families. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Fred Spurn; her second husband, Steve Hrenchuk; one son, Cliff Spurn; one daughter, Gloria Daneault; six brothers, Nick, George, John, Bill, Alex and Mike Kosty and two sisters, Dora Ostapovich and Mabel Skalzub.
Mary was born and raised in Saskatchewan and upon leaving there she went to the B.C. Lower Mainland where she resided until moving to Vernon in the mid 1970s. She was an avid gardener and loved spending time in the garden tending her flowers.
Cremation preceded the Funeral Service which will be held at Bethel Funeral Chapel on Friday, May 2nd, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. with Mrs. Esther Lee officiating. A Reception will follow in the Tea Room at Bethel Funeral Chapel. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Mary to the Vernon Jubilee
