Mary Elenor Lust
was born on October 16th, 1925 in Calgary, Alberta and passed away peacefully on September 17th, 2010 in Vernon, B.C. at the age of 84 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her son; Ken (Laura Gluckie) Lust, her two daughters; Judy (Dave) Haywood and Deb (Barry) Schick, her grandchildren; Roberta, Olivia and Hudson Lust, Tyler and Tanya Haywood and Jodie, Toni and Ali Schick, her brother; Bev (Shirley) Biggar, her two sisters; Wilma Dawson and Joan (Ralph) Cawthorn, her sister-in-law; Marie Lust as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her husband; Fred in 1999, her sister; Ruth Bruce and by her parents; Charles and Jessie Biggar.
Mom moved with her family to a homestead in the Dawson Creek area when she was five. During her younger years, she made life-long friends and had numerous wilderness experiences which she later compiled into a book. A city girl at heart, she was happy to move back to Calgary as a young adult where she fulfilled her dream of becoming a hairdresser. In later years, mom enjoyed painting, pottery, crafts, crocheting and singing with the Sweet Adelines. Mom found great strength in her family. Her brother, sisters, children and especially her grandchildren helped her through some rough times and gave her great joy and encouragement. She was an inspirational woman who taught us compassion, forgiveness and how to be a strong, close-knit family.
Cremation preceded a Celebration of Mary’s Life which will be held at Bethel Funeral Chapel on Friday, September 24th, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. with Mr. Brian Jackson officiating.
