MARY MARX

Mary Joan Marx

(nee Liddle)

was born on June 29th, 1932 in Sarnia, Ontario, the second daughter born to Ellis Walker Liddle and Kathleen Liddle (nee Dean). She was called Home to be with her Heavenly Father on January 19th, 2013 at the age of 80 years.

Joan will be lovingly remembered by her two children, Chris Marx and Theda Cozby; four grandchildren, Heather (Richard), Ryan, Michael and Christopher; five great-grandchildren, Samantha, Sophie, Peter, Max and Gavin; four nephews, Charles, David, John, Richard and their families. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willibald Siegfried Marx and her sister, Lyn Taft.

Joan was a very active lady participating in various groups and organizations. Her primary aim in life was to keep her faith and relationship with Jesus Christ the central focus of her life. She had a deep abiding hope in her Heavenly Father which saw her through many trials in her life and she now sees Him face to face and dwells in that Home which He promised to those who love and serve Him. From her earliest years as a child she was involved in the United Church and then later became a member of the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints. During these years she was very involved in both churches, being the President of the UCW and an Elder in the United Church and then later the President of the Latter Day Saints Women’s Association in the Okanagan Valley. Joan was a Registered Nurse for 38 years and after her retirement she continued to care for people through her role as both Administrative Assistant and volunteer at the phones with the Vernon Crisis Line. Her passion for helping others was also evident as she volunteered in the Vernon soup kitchen where she deeply loved this act of serving those in need. She will be greatly missed by all who had the joy of knowing her.

A Celebration Of Joan’s Life will be held at the Church Of Latter Day Saints, 1506-35th Avenue, on Friday, January 25th, 2013 at 3:00 P.M. Cremation will follow.
