MRS. MARY STEHLE passed away in Hospice House at Vernon, BC on
January 20, 2005, one week prior to her 92nd birthday. The funeral service was held from the chapel of Bowers Funeral Home, Salmon Arm on Tuesday morning, January 25th at 11 a.m. with Louise E. Burton and Jack Bowers presiding. Interment followed in the family plot at Mt. Ida Cemetery. Pallbearers were Kevin, Tony, Tracy and Garett Stehle, John Tweeddale and Grant Fenton. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on January 27, 1913, Mary was a long time resident of Salmon Arm, having moved from Vernon to Salmon Arm in 1953, returning to Vernon in June of 1989. She is well remembered for her dedication with her family, years of babysitting, and her joy of gardening and love of animals. Mary leaves her 5 children, Lawrence (Phyllis) of Weyburn, Saskatchewan, Fred (Mimi) of Armstrong, Gerry (Lynn) of Kelowna, Bob (Paulette) of Salmon Arm and Ann Tweeddale (Bob Bjarnason) of Westbank; 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; one brother, Sam Weimer of Regina. She was predeceased by her husband, Frederick Stehle on March 5, 1983. Memorial donations may be sent to the BC Heart and Stroke Foundation or to Vernon Hospice House.
