It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Surkan announces her passing on December 19th, 2010 at the grand age of 96 years.
She is lovingly remembered by her sons: Gordon (Carol), Glen (Marnee), Terry, and daughter-in-law, Marlene Stevenson; her grandchildren: Kelsey, Jennifer, Treena, Shari, Tamara, Adam, Wendy, Debbie and Dean; and nine great grandchildren. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Nick, eight brothers and sisters, son, Roy, and grandson, Randal.
Mary was born in Fescue, Alberta to John and Alexandra Blashchuk. In 1930, at the young age of sixteen, she met and married Nick Surkan. They were married for forty years. During that time, they farmed on Grandview Flats in Armstrong. Mary’s family was her priority and they were a source of continuous pride and everlasting joy.
As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Mary to Vernon Restholm where she lived for ten happy years.
