MARY VOTH

Mary Voth

was born on March 11th, 1922 in Bescheran, Russia and passed away peacefully on November 29th, 2011 in Vernon, B.C. at the age of 89 years. Mary will be lovingly remembered by her son; Rick (Terry) Voth of Bonnyville, Alberta, her daughters; Judy (Roger) Brown of Whitehorse, Yukon and Terry Higgins of Vernon, B.C., her grandchildren; Tanya, Tracey, Matthew, Todd and Jane, her great-grandchildren; Brody, Lily, Sierra and Mika, her brothers; Peter, Abe and Ernie, her sisters; Anna, Katie, Susie, Helen, Betty and Mardee. Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband, Henry, her sister; Netty and two brothers; Jake and John.

Mary immigrated to Canada at the age of 3 and her family settled near Dominion City, Manitoba. She married Henry Voth in 1945 and they farmed in St. Elizabeth, Manitoba until 1959. They then moved to Calgary, Alberta where they raised their three children. Mary and Henry moved to the Vernon area in 1980 and built their retirement dream home. They enjoyed traveling and spent many winters kayaking, swimming and visiting with friends on the Baja beaches of Mexico. We called her “Oma” and will always remember her big smile and warm hugs. She loved to read, paint, sew and do needlework. Oma was an excellent cook and gardener. We greatly enjoyed her pickles and preserves; and she always seemed to have the most beautiful flowers blooming throughout the summer.

In respecting Mary’s wishes, she was cremated and a private family service was held. Oma will be missed by all her friends and family, but forever remembered in our hearts and minds.

As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Mary to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation, 2101 32nd Street, Vernon, B.C. V1T 5L2.
