December 30, 1939 - September 5, 2024
In loving memory ~
Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and partner, Marybell Edith Lintott (Burling) died peacefully surrounded by family at age 84 on Thursday, September 5, 2024.
She was born on December 30, 1939, in Vancouver, BC at Vancouver General Hospital to Edith and John Burling. She spent many childhood years on Salt Spring Island, where her father wanted to try farming. While there, she attended a one-room schoolhouse called Beaver Point. Eventually they moved back to West Vancouver where she attended Pauline Johnson Elementary school. Many wonderful years were spent there enjoying the beach at Dundarave with her sisters and family. After the family moved to North Vancouver, she went to Sutherland Secondary and North Van High where she met Wayne Lintott. She worked at CBC in Vancouver. After her and Wayne got married, they moved to Vernon, a place she called home for the rest of her life. They had three children: Connie, Bob, and Julie.
Meb loved her family, indeed, many considered her a second mother. She was an amazing cook and baker, and she always welcomed friends and family to enjoy her delicious meals and famous squares and desserts. She worked and volunteered for many years at the Vernon Winter Carnival, and also worked in a law firm. She made many friends along the way. She had lots of fun going on bus trips to the US with her daughters and friends and enjoyed vacations around BC and Hawaii.
When she met her partner Al Anderson later in life, they enjoyed spending their time doing various activities like camping with their friends at Mabel Lake and gardening in their back yard. She was a great puzzler and would always have a new puzzle on the go. But her greatest joy was spending time with her family, cooking and baking and enjoying their company.
Meb is survived by her partner Al, daughters Connie and Julie (Andy), son Bob (Rosie), grandchildren Darcy (Katya), Bradley (Cheyanne), Kelsey (Dave), Madisen (Aaron), and great-grandchildren Ben and Ella. Also missing her will be her sisters Nancy (Bruce), Jane (Wayne), and Kathy (Don), as well as many nieces, nephews and friends and Al's children, Sharon (Bruce), Steve and predeceased by Dave, grandchildren Mitchell, Kirsten, Allyson and Ashley. Meb was also predeceased by her sister Jackie in 1956, her father John in 1987, and mother Edith in 2009.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, October 18, 2024, at 11 am at Pleasant Valley Funeral Home in Vernon, BC.
Thank you to the staff at Vernon Jubilee Hospital and the Vernon Hospice where she was lovingly taken care of during her final weeks.
