MARYBETH SIGALET, age 79, peacefully died in the evening of January 17, 2004, in the company of her four children: Margot (Ross) MacDougall, Deborah Sigalet, Mike (Carmen) Sigalet, and Dirk (Jennifer) Sigalet, at the Vernon Hospice House. Marybeth, born in Vancouver on May 26, 1924; married Harold Sigalet (deceased Jan. 30, 1991) of Lumby, in 1946, and raised her family in Vernon. Marybeth contributed to the community by her active participation in the Girl Guides, Vernon Womens’ Hospital Auxiliary, Winter Carnival, the University Women’s Club, Canadian School Of Ballet’s Christmas Pantomimes (Producer), Coldstream Elementary School Library, and other community events and organizations. Passionate about her children, fond of music, appreciative of painting and dance, a chaotic gardener, voracious reader and a creative chef all made her a wonderful mother and a dear friend to many. Marybeth is also fondly remembered by her six younger siblings and their extended families as well as by her grandchildren; Alexa, Malcolm, Julianna, Joey, Graham, Molly and Katy. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, January 31, at 3:00 P.M., in the chapel of Pleasant Valley Funeral Home, with Mr. Brian Jackson officiating, followed by a reception in the Tea Room there.
