Mathilde (Tilly) Krahn [Mantei] went to be with her Lord and Saviour on October10th 2006 in the MSA Hospital, one week short of her 94th birthday.
She was born on October 17, 1912 in Steinbach, Manitoba to William and Amelia Krantz. the oldest of twelve children – six boys and six girls. Mom is survived by her four children: Daughters, Joyce Ott (Ewald), Abbotsford, BC; Betty Nywening (Ralph) Kelowna, BC; Helen Lutz (George) Chilliwack, BC and her son Bob Mantei (Randi) Richmond, BC. She was blessed with seven grandchildren who were the light of her life: Lori Hoffman (Mark) and Judy Ediger (daughters of Betty) Greg and Matt Lutz, Jennifer Jakubec (Jon) and Courtney and Marlee Mantei. Her other joy was two great-grandchildren Nolan and Ella Jakubec. Her sister Lillian Beck, Armstrong, BC and her brother, Marvin Krantz, Grande Prairie, Alberta also survive her. She has many nieces, nephews and extended family. She was blessed with many friends who considered her “Mom”. She was predeceased by her parents William & Amelia Krantz, first husband Louie Mantei in 1967 [married for 31 yrs.] and her second husband Pete Krahn in 1991 [married 22 yrs] In recent years she lost most of her brothers and sisters, the latest being her youngest brother in September, 2006. After the death of her second husband, mom settled in to a peaceful and fulfilling last few years. She enjoyed her home, living on her own
until she was hospitalized 7 weeks ago. She knitted and baked up a storm. She
always had something to give you when you went home. She voluntarily gave up her drivers licence at age 92. Mom lived each day to the fullest even with her aches and pains. She loved her Lord to whom she had given her heart in her youth. We will miss her so much – but we have the confidence we will meet again!
