Maurice Bryan Miller Hall O’Connor
It is with great sadness that the families of Maurice O’Connor announce his sudden passing. Maurice began his career life as a logger, shortly after becoming a high-rigger at the young age of 16. Later in life he was a businessman, consultant, academic professor and family man who lived a full life of zest and hunger for knowledge and understanding with the utmost wit. He will be remembered for his compassion and the constant evolution of both his life and the many others that he touched. His work took him to many countries; firstly his home country, Canada, South East Asia, Pacific Rim and Europe, which inspired his love for the world and most recently Israel.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Ken and David. Maurice will be lovingly remembered but sadly missed by: his sister Kathleen Aylward of Kelowna, and Maurice’s five children: Colleen O’Connor (Brian) of Kelowna, Kent (Sharon) O’Connor of Calgary, Deanna (Paul) Touhey of Vancouver, Dan (Lisa) Scott of Armstrong, and Kevin (Carolyn) O’Connor of Vernon, Also loved and missed greatly by 11 grandchildren: Shauna, Cindy, David, Karen, Michael, Mark, Matthew, Sara, Autumn, Kaden and Cole, three great-grandchildren: Caleb, Jacob, and Sarah and numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
Interment in Hillside Cemetery, Kamloops, BC will precede the Memorial Service which will be held on Friday, July 30, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in Community Baptist Church, 4911 Silver Star Road, Vernon, BC. Pastor Don Irwin officiating. A reception will follow in the Tea Room of Pleasant Valley Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Maurice’s name to Covenant House, 575 Drake Street, Vancouver, BC V6B 4K8.
