Mom
Listener, teacher and
miraculous blend of
peacemaker, counselor
and the best kind of friend.

It is with great sadness that the family of Mavis Strother announces her peaceful passing at the age of 94. She is predeceased by her husband Ted, and survived by her three daughters Shelley (John), Sheila (Dennis) and Susie (Rick), as well as five grandchildren (Dave, Mike, Mark, Karli, Amy) and six great grandchildren ( Sloan, Stella, Weston, Sully, Piper and Henry).
Mavis worked most of teaching career in the Vernon School District teaching at Silver Star Elementary and later as a learning assistance teacher at Harwood Elementary. She was known for her patience, kind heart and acceptance. Mavis loved to play bridge and at one time was an avid golfer, swimmer and walker. She also enjoyed spending time in her flower garden. She lived at Okanagan Landing on the shores of Okanagan Lake for over 50 years and her grandchildren have fond memories of summers at the lake with Nana and Papa.
The family would like to thank the staff at Gateby Care Centre for their years of compassionate care. Donations can be made in Mavis's memory to the Alzheimer's Society. No services or memorial will take place, at Mavis's request.
