February 14, 1953 - July 17, 2023
The family of Meindert sadly announce his passing in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital on July 17th, 2023 at the age of 70 after he succumbed to a lengthy illness following a courageous battle. Meindert, aka Dutchy was born on February 14th, 1953 in Salmon Arm, B.C. and moved to Armstrong, B.C. in 1959. He lived there most of his life and was employed in the lumber industry for over 35 years.
Meindert will be lovingly remembered by his son Darcy (Jen) and grandchildren Eli and Adelynn, his son Travis (Kari) and grandchildren Brayden and Brooklynn, his son's mom, Catherine Rypkema (Rob Scafe), his sister Petra Holmberg, his brother George along with George's daughter Michelle. Also mourning his loss are his former partner, Donna Schroeder and his step-daughters, Rhonda Kreiger and Charlene Beer. He also leaves behind his two cousins in Canada, Ron Rozenberg and Melody Tompkins, extended family in Canada and many relatives in the Netherlands.
Meindert was predeceased by his mother Regina, his father Sjeeuwke aka George, his brother John, and by his nephew Ryan Holmberg. In respecting Meindert's wishes, he was cremated and there will be no service.
