The family of Mervin Eric Hayward wish to announce his passing on December 23, 2017 at Polson Special Care at the age of 88 years.
Merv was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on February 15, 1929 to Sidney and Dorothy Hayward.
He was predeceased by his wife Chris, and his 3 siblings: Don (Bernice), Sid and Joan.
Mervin was a pilot, fisherman and mechanic, and owned the local business, Interior Auto Wrecking, since the early 1960’s.
Merv is survived by his four children: Ron (Tracy), Diane (Bruce), Craig (Sue), Heather (Lawrence) and his 7 grandchildren: Steve, Niki, Cody, Troy, Kevan, Aubree and Sarah, and 2 great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.
The family would like to send our sincere thanks to Sue Ward and all of the caring staff at Polson Special Care for the last 3 years of excellent care, and to thank his doctor, Dr. Abdel-Kader.
We would also like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to Merv’s 3 private caregivers/companions: Terry Muir, Eileen Caldwell and Terrie Babiuk, who were there to support and assist him over the last 5 years, as he suffered with the effects of Alzheimer’s.
There will be no service by request, but if you would like to remember Merv, you are welcome to make a donation to the SPCA, Alzheimer’s Society or another charity of your choice.
