Mervin Booth (Merv) Pierce was born on September 10th, 1926 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and passed away suddenly on December 4th, 2016 at his condo in Phoenix, Arizona at the age of 90 years.

Merv will be lovingly remembered by his wife Lyn, to whom he was married for 34 years; one son, Clifford (Jodi) of Salmon Arm, B.C.; two daughters, Debbie of North Vancouver, B.C. and Cathy (Gordie) of Vancouver, B.C.; two grandsons, Jason (Nancy) of Port Coquitlam, B.C. and Kyle of Kelowna, B.C.; two great-grandchildren, Kennedy and Declan; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.

Merv graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with great distinction when be obtained his Degree in Civil Engineering. At the age of 25, he was the youngest chief bridge engineer in Saskatchewan. In 1963 he moved his family from Saskatchewan to Vancouver, B.C. where he continued to work in his chosen profession until 1986. After a few years enjoying retirement, he and Lyn decided it was time to make a move in 1992 to the Okanagan, a decision he never regretted. Here in Vernon he made many friends, particularly at the Spallumcheen Golf Club where he could often be found golfing. After 70 years of playing golf, he received the thrill of a lifetime when at age 86, and legally blind, he made his first hole in one! “Wish you could have seen it Merv!” was the sentiment that everyone was saying to him for having done that.

A Celebration Of Merv’s life will be held at the Spallumcheen Golf & Country Club (the most fitting venue of all and one he would approve of for sure!) on Saturday, May 6th, 2017 from 1:00 - 3:00 P.M.

As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Merv to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Founda-tion, (designated for the Cardiac Unit), 2101-32nd Street, Vernon, B.C. V1T 5L2.

The family wish to thank Dr. F. Healey and his receptionist

“Dr. Stacey” for the wonderful care they provided to Merv

over the past many years.
