MICHAEL GARY BOAKE
It is with extreme sadness we announce the sudden passing of Mike Boake on March 26, 2003. Mike was a gentle, kind and loving son, brother, uncle and friend. Born in Oliver B.C. on July 2, 1962 to mother Jackie and father Gary and brother to Jim (Cheryl), Tom (Susie) and Angie (Kevin). Mike was raised as most Canadian farm boys, hard work and hockey. He was the only person I knew that wept when the Montreal Canadians lost the Stanley Cup. For those that knew Mike they will say that he was a great competitor and a good friend. The passion he had for hockey was amazing. He had so much potential but life threw him some obstacles that most people could not have overcome. Mike was a fighter. For those of us left we can learn something from Mike. No matter what happens to us here, in life, you can take what you have and make the best of it. Mike was well known in the construction industry spending many years with Peters Bros. in Penticton, Postill and Sons in Vernon, and Tecks Asphalt of Vernon. He was always considered a hard worker and dedicated employee. During his life his hobbies were hockey, boating, cycling and spending time with his nieces, Marina, Candace, and nephews, Erek, Kevin and Colin. All that knew him will miss Mike. He leaves behind no bitterness or anger towards him, only sorrow and compassion for his pain. We will miss you and never forget you. Special thanks to Helen. We’ve come to know and love her as a special part of Mike’s life. Donations in lieu of flowers will be graciously accepted to Canadian Mental Health Association, 3105-28 Ave., Vernon, B.C. V1T 8Y4. Memorial on behalf of Mike will be at the Schubert Center on Wednesday, April 2, 2003 at 3pm.
