We are heartbroken to announce the sudden passing of Mike, who went to join his dad Reg for Father's day.
He leaves behind his wife of 36 years, Val, son Craig and daughter Katelyn (Mike). He will also be missed by his mother Betty, mother-in-law Phes, his siblings Barbara, Kathryn (Raymond), Reg (Dana), Susan, and Val's family Rob (Char), Lynne (Hugh) and Ken (Tracy). He also had many nieces and nephews and a lot of great friends we consider family (you know who you are).
Mike was born in Shaunavon Saskatchewan, but lived most of his life in Vernon. His greatest joy was spending time with family and friends out at the Kal Lake cabin. He made many great memories and perfected his tan travelling to warm places, such as Hawaii, Mexico, Dominican Republic and the Bahamas. In the summertime he loved to go for a rip in his '69 Dodge Dart.
He had a huge heart for his animals and was devastated when we lost our dog Casey last year. They're together again, along with his brothers-in-law Tom and Blair and father-in-law Bob. Next time you are gazing out at the water, raise your glass in a toast to Mike.
We will be having a casual outdoor celebration of life on Saturday July 4th from 1pm-4pm at his mother-in-law's house located at 790 39th Ave, for family and close friends (old and new). Please pull in the driveway and there is lots of parking in the fields. We have 3 acres for social distancing. Bring a chair and a beverage of choice and we'll send him off in the style he would appreciate.
We love you Mike, til we see you again...
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his name to the Vernon Animal Care Society.
