Aug 2, 1944 - Jan 29, 2018
In loving memory of Mike Evanishen who was born in North Battleford, Saskatchewan on August 2, 1944. Mike passed away on January 29, 2018 in Vernon, British Columbia.

He grew up in North Battleford where he spent most of his childhood at the family restaurant and gas station helping his parents and family run it. For a short while he worked as an orderly in a psychiatric hospital and had some wild stories from there that he loved to share. He worked with the union to get rights for his workers prior to the province being bought by Weyerhaeuser Canada, where he worked for 35 yrs. He started out in Squamish, British Columbia then Prince Albert, Saskatchewan to work in the paper mill. Mike then moved to Princeton British Columbia and on to Kamloops to work in the pulp mills in management positions such as safety, human resources and disability management.

He was also a certified electrician that was part of his job and something that he enjoyed using in his everyday life.

Mike leaves behind his wife Joyce and a former wife Dale Ann. He has three children Natalie, Sean and Patrick; three grandchildren; two step children Kim and Kevin; grandchild Destiny; brothers Bill (Myrna), David (Collen) and sister in law Christine. He also has multiple nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The major love in Mike's life was golf, he would be there from sun up to sundown if he could. He also loved fishing, birds, gardening, travel, Hawaii, playing ball, going to hockey games, barbequing, walking and pets.

There will be a private family service held at a later date as per Mike's request. The family will scatter his ashes at his favorite golf course in the spring.

In lieu of flowers the family's request is to donate to either the Alzheimer's association or a charity of your choice.
