We regret to announce the death of Mike Rukavina on September 8, 2013, at Vernon Jubilee Hospital at the age of 80 years.
Mike was born in Pozariste Yugoslavia in 1933. He grew up on the family farm with his 5 brothers. After serving in the Yugoslavian military Mike made his way to Canada in 1957. He met and married his wife Betty in Vernon in 1962. Mike spent 40 years working in the forestry industry in Clinton and Quesnel and finished his career as a millwright at Tolko in Lavington. He will be remembered for his work ethic, willingness to lend a hand and friendly nature.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Betty; 3 daughters: Kathy (Kevin) Lepp and Shelley (Darren) Tompkins of Vernon and Cindy Rukavina of Cloverdale; seven grandchildren: Jered, Brett, Amanda, Devon, Jacob, Anna, and Maya. He was predeceased by his parents and five brothers.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mike’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 4 – 1551 Sutherland Avenue, Kelowna, BC V1Y 9M9.

Inurnment of Mike’s cremated remains will take place on Saturday, September 14 at 10:30 a.m. at the Columbarium at Pleasant Valley Funeral Home.
