April 18, 1927 – August 11, 2010
The family regrets to announce the sudden passing of Mildred on Wednesday August 11, 2010. Mildred is survived by her loving husband George of 64 years; three daughters Marlene, Maxine (Bob), Valerie (Bert); one son Larry (Michelle); six grandsons Daryl (MaryAnn), Doug (Patty), Dale (Heather), Damon, Braden, and Joel; seven great-grandchildren Garret, Brianna, Ashton, Trinity, Ellysa, Gregory, Jesse; two brothers Earl (Stella), Frank (Elsie); and many other loving family members. Mildred was born in Glenavon SK, one of eleven children. She and George raised their family here in the Valley, where she enjoyed varied work interests until finally becoming known as the “mail lady” until retiring. During their retirement Mildred & George spent many enjoyable hours at their cabin at Downie Creek “fishing fishing fishing” and spending time with many great friends. Mildred was the family’s strong foundation and control, and make a difference – “she did”. In George’s loving eyes she was “THE BOSS”. No service as requested by Mildred. A private family memorial to follow.
When I come to the end of the road,
and the sun has set for me.
I want no rites in a gloom filled room.
Why cry for a soul set free?
For this is a journey we all must take,
and each must go alone.
It’s all a part of the Master’s plan,
a step on the road to home.
