Mildred Doris Gibson, a long-time resident in the Okanagan Valley, passed away peacefully at Vernon Jubilee Hospital December 20, 2009 at the age of 97. Born Jan 16, 1912 in Dayton, Ohio, Mildred grew up on a homestead in northern Saskatchewan. In 1936 she and her husband Albert made the journey west and found work at the Coldstream Ranch where they worked and lived until retirement. Albert and Mildred loved traveling and fishing and made annual trips to their favourite fishing sites on the west coast. Predeceased by husband Albert (2004), Mildred is survived by two daughters, Mary (Barry) French and Betty (Bill) Bunting as well as six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
“Granny” will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her for her adventurous spirit, infectious laugh and enjoyment of her favourite pastime, playing cards with family.
Following cremation, a family gathering will be held at a later date to celebrate her life.
