Millie Hughes (nee: Parmley) passed away at The Gateby Residence in Vernon, B.C. with her family by her side on Sunday, August 10, 2003 at the age of 94. Millie is survived by her daughter Lynda von Harten of Vernon and her son Richard (Ann) of Vernon; four grandchildren, Michael von Harten (Lucille) of Grande Prairie, Alta, Teri Ellis (Rod) of Armstrong, B.C., Carolyn Teichroeb (Darren) of Vernon, B.C., Grant Hughes (Brandi) of Kelowna, B.C.; six great grandchildren, Michael, Ashley, Joelle, Daniel, Michelle and Jesse; one sister Florence Bent (Alan) of Penticton, B.C. Millie was predeceased by her husband Ed Hughes, one daughter Eilleen Hughes, son-in-law Carl Peter von Harten and her brothers, Bob Parmley, Fred Parmley and Dick Parmley. Millie was born in Penticton and spent most her life there. She lived with her husband, Ed, and three children on Martin St. and later on Victoria Drive. She worked at Penticton Dray and Express, which her father Robert Parmley, had started, and then worked with her youngest brother Dick, in R.(Dick) Parmley Ltd. Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m on Saturday, August 16, 2003 at the First Baptist Church in Penticton with Rev. Sid Waterman officiating. Donations in memory of Millie may be made to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation towards the purchase of a bladder scanner for Interior Health – The Gateby, 3500 – 31 Ave., Vernon, B.C.
