Muriel Copeland Ostenson

Muriel Copeland Ostenson died very peacefully on January 31 at Oakside Manor after a brief illness. She was born in Vernon on June 5, 1912.  Muriel married Carl Ostenson in 1950 and they purchased a farm on Lansdowne road and lived there until Muriel moved to Enderby in the early 1990’s.  Muriel and Carl enjoyed 47 very happy years until Carl died suddenly in 1997.  She is survived by her nephew Adrian Alers-Hankey, cousin Jane Spinks, nieces Diana and Felicity and nephew Anthony in England, brother in law Andy Ostenson and sister in law Elsie Ostenson. Muriel was an avid naturalist who loved the country and all its inhabitants.  She was a generous supporter of conservation and wildlife.  Muriel loved all animals and most especially her beloved companion of many years ‘Maggie’. Muriel touched many lives with her kindness, generosity and good humour.  She will always be remembered by her friends for her many wonderful qualities. Interment in Armstrong Spallumcheen Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Muriel’s Life at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 5, 2009, at Mountain View Funeral Chapel.
