Murray was born on September 25, 1934 in Brandon, Manitoba and passed away on January 24, 2010 in Vernon, BC.
Murray’s successful career of forty years began in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and culminated with the Government of Alberta. Murray retired, with his wife Elaine, to Vernon BC in 1989.
He continued his active and dedicated volunteerism in Vernon for twenty years with organizations including VJH Foundation Board, the Powerhouse Theatre, Special Olympics, Funtastic, McCullogh Court and the Vernon and District Hospice Society. He was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Murray was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Elaine. He is survived by his three daughters, Sherry Smith (Ron), Kathy Blumhagen (Rick), and Pat Tyreman together with his three grandchildren, Briana Smith, Kristin Thompson and Daniel Thompson.
