Myrth Jeannette Winship

With deep sadness, we announce that Myrth Jeannette Winship, aged 79 years, passed away peacefully at Vernon Jubilee Hospital on Friday, September 11, 2009. Myrth will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by sons Christopher (Paulette) Winship of Armstrong, Bill (Judy) Simms of North Vancouver and Edward (Lena) Simms of Bowen Island; daughter Catherine (Jeffrey) Melvin of Coquitlam; twelve grandchildren; several great grandchildren; extended family and many friends. Born in Port Alberni, August 6, 1930, Myrth was raised in Burnaby and went on to a career in business in addition to opening and managing a family-operated restaurant. Moving to Armstrong in 1996, she fulfilled a life-long ambition of retiring in the Okanagan. As a long-standing and active member of the Lion’s Club and volunteer at the Armstrong medical clinic, Myrth will be remembered for her ongoing devotion to her family and friends and doing for others in her community. A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Armstrong. Father Anthony Ackerman celebrant.
