We regret to announce the death at Vernon Jubilee Hospital on March 26,2003, of Nancy Maling Halsey, at the age of 83 years. Nancy was born in Christchurch New Zealand and was educated there until completion of high school. Her advanced education was accomplished in Canada. Nancy was a resident of the North Okanagan for many years. She was a prolific reader and a writer of poetry and stories. She had a deep scientific interest in the human body and also the natural world. Nancy loved nature and especially walks in the Kalamalka Park. She practised Tai Chi and enjoyed being a Ham Radio operator. She was predeceased by her husband, Gordon Halsey in 1992. Nancy will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her children: Elaine (Niel Proudlove) Halsey and grandson Matthew of Vernon, and Liz (Kevin Collier) Halsey and grandchildren Tess and Cailum in Hamilton NZ., and son Bob (Bev) Purcell of Coquitlam. She is also survived by sister, Molly Loughnan in Christchurch, NZ., and nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Following Nancy’s request, there will be no public funeral service. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so, may make a donation to a charity of their choice in Nancy’s memory. Cremation arrangements are in the care of Vernon Funeral Home. 250-542-0155.
