Neil Gregory Hengel was born on May 28th, 1931 in Galahad, Alberta and was called Home to be with his Lord on September 19th, 2016 at the age of 85 years.
Neil was a resident of Vernon since 1966 and will be lovingly remembered by his children, Deb of Vancouver, B.C., Doug (Sandi) of Campbell River, B.C. and Dennis (Jodi) of Vernon, B.C.; three grandchildren, Rachael, Greg and Katelyn; one great-grandson, Dominic; one sister, Gerry McPherson of Medicine Hat, Alberta; two brothers, Don (Lois) of Westlock, Alberta and Pat of Ft. McMurray, Alberta; one sister-in-law, Cally Hengel of Cranbrook, B.C.; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Rena, to whom he was married for 63 years; one brother, Lowell; one brother-in-law, Don McPherson; and one sister-in-law, Diane Hengel.
A Prayer Vigil Service will be held at St. James Catholic Church on Friday, September 30th, 2016 at 7:00 P.M. followed by the Funeral Mass being celebrated there on Saturday, October 1st, 2016 at 1:30 P.M. with Reverend Father Dale Normandeau celebrant. Cremation will follow.
