Nell MacPherson, in her 91st year, passed quietly away in the loving care of the staff at Noric House in Vernon on March 29th.She was born Nell Wilkinson in Calgary on July 16, 1913 and, in her youth, was an accomplished violinist. She graduated from Calgary Normal School in 1932 and taught in a one-room school house on the Alberta/Saskachewan border until 1936. She was a receptionist at radio station CKWX in Vancouver during the 1950’s. She returned to teaching in 1964 when she moved to Enderby, B.C. She remained there, at Beattie Elementary until her retirement in 1978. She was predeceased by her husband, Stu in 1954 and her beloved son, John Barry in 1955. She is survived by her sisters Eunice Rainville of Spokane, Hazel Davis of Calgary and Betty Fox of White Rock and her loving children Don (Linda) MacPherson of Vernon and Lois Everett of Palm City, Florida and her 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; Deb, Al, Eric and Elly Tomassen of Parksville, David, Cathy, Gavin, Ian and Gillian MacPherson of 150 Mile House, Marnie, Jim, Zoe, Callum and Quin McCormack of Calgary, Bill and Jackie MacPherson of Lions Bay, Rob, Larissa, Kyle and Crista MacPherson of Coquitlam, Leslie, Peter and Cameron Wilson of Medicine Hat, Glen and Judy MacPherson of White Rock, Kelly and Mark Collard of Keswick, Ontario and Mike, Heather, Hannah and Jack Everett of Satellite Beach, Florida. Donations in Nell’s memory may be made to The Terry Fox/Cancer Foundation or to a charity of choice. At Nell’s request there will be no service.
