December 25th, 1924 – April 15th, 2016

Our dear Nick passed away peacefully with his family at his side. An amazing life lived for 91 years.

Nick was born in Canora, Saskatchewan in 1924, one of ten children. He met the love of his life in 1944 and he and Jean were married in 1945, a marriage which would remain strong for over seventy years.

Nick is survived by his wife Jean; their five children, Rick (Robyn), Archie (Carol), Dave (Lois), Donna (Ken) Hystad and Alan (Judy). He leaves a legacy of nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Nick was the last surviving child of Metro and Annie Homeniuk as he was preceded in death by his five brothers and four sisters.

Nick and Jean spent many years raising their family in Kitimat before moving to Vernon. He was an active member of the Lions Club and he enjoyed spending time with his many friends. There was never a party missed by Nick and the family functions were planned and talked about for months in advance. People are still talking about the 60th Anniversary party where they danced the night away. The last big party was held in July for Nick and Jean’s 70th Wedding Anniversary at the Gray Monk Winery. Nick was the center of a large and loving family. Jean will be planting the flowers in their garden this year to remember her beloved Nick.

Love is the true means by which the world is enjoyed –

our love to others and others love to us.

Cremation preceded a gathering of family and friends which will be held at the Schubert Centre, 3505-30th Avenue, on Sunday, April 24th, 2016 at 2:00 P.M.

Cremation arrangements have been made with BETHEL FUNERAL CHAPEL LTD., 5605-27th Street, Vernon, B.C. V1T 8Z5 • 250-542-1187
