We regret to announce the death at Hospice House in Vernon on May 1, 2003, of MR. NICHOLAS URSULAN, at the age of 79 years. Nicholas was born in Quentin, Sask., and was a longtime resident of Cupar before moving to Vernon 13 years ago. He was a veteran, serving during the Second World War in the Canadian Army, and was a longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Nick was a very talented woodcarver and a dedicated family man. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Jean; son Bryan (Judy) of Calgary, and daughter Darlene (Irwin) Schmidt of Vernon. He is survived by four grandchildren: Jeffrey (Kyla) Ursulan and their daughter Kira of Calgary, Sarah Ursulan of Calgary, and Kimberly and Michael Schmidt of Vernon; brothers Max (Agatha) and Steve (Joyce); sisters Anne, Mary, Theresa and Betty; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Cremation will be followed by a Memorial Mass, to be held on Monday, May 5, at 10:00 AM at St. James’ Roman Catholic Church in Vernon, with the Reverend Father Martin Peyton, celebrant. Interment of cremated remains will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Vernon. Friends wishing to do so may make donations in memory of Nicholas to Vernon Hospice Society, 3506-27 Ave., Vernon, V1T 1S4. Arrangements are in the care of VERNON FUNERAL HOME. (250)542-0155.
