Norma Jane Jones
1924 – 2007
Norma was born on
March 11, 1924 in Domremy,
Saskatchewan, and passed away peacefully on January 10, 2007 at MSA General Hospital in Abbotsford. She was predeceased by her husband Arnold Jones in 1997.
As a young girl, Norma attended school in Lumby, and always loved the community. Norma and Arnold chose to retire in the Lumby area in 1978.
Known for her beautiful hats, Norma was a
lifetime member of the OAP Branch 117, and loved to play music with her friends at the Thursday Wheels to Meals lunches in Lumby.
During the 1960’s and 1970’s, Norma and
Arnold resided in Vernon. Norma worked
at Block’s Apparel, where she had many loyal customers who relied on her ability to choose just the right outfits for them, and do the alterations. Norma was also an active member of First Baptist Church, and sang in the choir.
A loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, she will be sadly missed by all
of her friends and family. Sister Elizabeth,
Sisters-in-law Gladys & Sylvia, Niece Judy (Larry), Nephew Mel (Jenny), Daughter Marilynn, Son Rod (Lorna), Granddaughters Lisa (Brian), Christina (Carmin), Great Grand children Quinton, Jacob, Cassie, Isabella, Elijah, and Great Niece Chantal (Beau).
A Memorial Service to celebrate Norma’s life will be held at 2:00pm on February 10th, 2007, in Lumby Christian Church 1962 Vernon Street, Lumby BC.
