July 17, 1947 - March 11, 2016

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Norm Metheral at Vernon Hospice House on March 11th, 2016.

Norm was born in Calgary, Alberta. He was a true blue Albertan, living in Calgary for most of his life. He loved the Calgary Flames and was a member of the Foothills Street Rod Association.

In 1967, he joined Air Canada as a Station Attendant (Ramp Rat). It was in this position that he met Patsy, who, as a Flight Attendant (Stewardess) passed through Calgary quite often. They fell in love but, alas, it was not meant to be. Fifteen years later they met again and this time fate was not to be denied. They married in Vancouver on September 25th, 1982 and had 34 happy years together.

In 1990, Patsy told him she was moving back to B.C.; he could come too if he wanted. He did, and grew to love the Okanagan Valley. He was a season ticket holder for the Vernon Vipers and never missed a game, but nothing could surpass his love of the game of golf. He joined the Vernon Golf and Country Club and his passion took off. He cared so much for all his golf buddies and was looking forward to another year of golf with the “Vintage 8”.

Norm will be missed dearly by his wife Patsy; son Gregory; daughter Amy; his beloved grandchildren, Kellan and Tenley. He will also be missed by all his golf buddies and his fellow car club buds.

No funeral by request. Cremation. Celebration of Life will be held September 17, 2016 at the Vernon Golf & Country Club, 2:00 PM.

Those friends wishing to make memorial contributions in memory of Norm may do so to the North Okanagan Hospice Society or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
