May 17, 1927 – August 2, 2007

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Norman George Smith, 80, in Vernon, British Columbia. A Vernon resident of 52 years, Norm was employed at Canadian Pacific Express and Transport as a truck driver for many years before his retirement. Norm was born in Penticton, B.C. and spent his early years in the city of Keremeos where he enjoyed a wonderful childhood. Norm and his wife Marge moved to Vernon in 1955 and started raising a family. Norm enjoyed telling stories of his truck driving adventures to people and his fun-filled childhood in Keremeos. While there as a young man he made boxes for the fruit packing plant and enjoyed horse-back riding. He had a fascination for music and was a multi-talented musician. He was in a band in Keremeos and they entertained many a dance or two. He enjoyed playing the piano for friends and family that visited and put up with his two girls and family who tried to sing along. Norm was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Marge Smith, his daughter Linda, his brother Charlie, his sisters Ivy and Muriel and his parents. He is survived by his daughter Janice (Gary), his grandson Chase, and step-grandsons Colton and Jesse. As per Dad’s wishes, there will be no service. A private family and friend gathering will take place in the city of Keremeos at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Norm can be made to a local charity of choice.

Dad is driving the highway in heaven,

Have a great trip!
