OLGA POPOWICH

After a feisty and determined 13 year fight against cancer, Olga now rests. She was a tough prairie girl who came to BC to work for a boss who became her sweetheart, husband, and best friend. Together they farmed at Larkin and Olga became a flour miller, mother and babysitter/caregiver to all those in need. She loved to cook and share gifts from her garden. She was an avid singer, talented cross-stitcher, prosperous gambler, devoted and generous mother and grandmother. After 82 years of fulfilling life, she sleeps. We will miss her.

Olga was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Mike. She is survived by her daughter Patricia (Ken) Soderquist and granddaughter Saffron as well as family, friends and neighbours.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 4 at 10:00 a.m. at All Saints’ Anglican Church, with the Reverend Canon Chris Harwood-Jones officiating. A reception will follow. Interment will then take place at Pleasant Valley Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Olga may be made to the Baerg-McMurtry Cancer Clinic, c/o Vernon Jubilee Hospital, 2101 – 32 Street, Vernon, BC V1T 5L2 or the North Okanagan Hospice Society, 3506 – 27 Avenue, Vernon, BC V1T 1S4.
