November 11, 1924 – September 2, 2014
In the late afternoon on Tuesday, September 2 after eating what turned out to be his last supper, Dad drifted off into a deep sleep – quietly, peacefully, without suffering. Dad was just two months shy of celebrating his 90th birthday. Dad was a kind, warm, giving, loving, proud man. His absence in the lives of those who knew and loved him will be felt deeply, and his 89 years of life and great memories will be cherished and celebrated by those closest to him.
Dad was predeceased by his son Gerald in 1965; and more recently, his loving wife of 65 years (Mom) Elizabeth in September 2009, with whom he always said were the “best years of my life.” In sickness, in health, in good times and times of struggles, ‘til death do us part. Mom and Dad, you are together again.
Dad is survived by Brian (Linda) Kakoske; Donna Kakoske, Crystal, Candace and Adam; Cheryl (Ken) Pow; Lynda Rahn, Maria and Liz; Patti (Ross) MacDonald, Vicki, Gord and Brodie; Michael (Heather) Kakoske, Ryan and Bryce; and great grandchildren Kaden, Ethan, Haille, Vienna, Brynlee, Baeleigh and Kane.
The family would like to thank Dr. Gilhooly for his excellent care and many kindnesses over the years.
The family would also like to thank the wonderful staff at Heritage Square for their hardworking dedication, care, support and many kindnesses. It didn’t go unnoticed or unappreciated. You definitely made a huge difference in Dad’s final years.
Dad was happy, content and felt Heritage Square was his home. What more could one ask or need.
Brian, Cheryl, Lynda, Patti and Michael
