PATRICK (PAT) JOSEPH O'BRIEN

Patrick (Pat) Joseph O’Brien was born on June 17th, 1925 in Limerick, Ireland and passed away peacefully on March 28th, 2015 in Vernon, B.C. at the age of 89 years. Pat will be lovingly remembered by his wife; Joy, to whom he was married for 68 wonderful years, his children; Bert (Jeanne) O’Brien of West Kelowna, B.C., Tony (Doni) O’Brien of Vernon, B.C., Eileen Poitras of Vernon, B.C., Patrick (Heather) O’Brien of Edmonton, AB and Iris (Perry Kropp) Demoe of Kamloops, B.C., his grandchildren; Desiree and Danny O’Brien, Leanna (Derek) Anderson, Maureen (Chris) Williamson, Tannis (Stacy) Restiaux, Kelsey (Melissa) Warwick, Staci Warwick, Sean (Bezz) O’Brien and David O’Brien, his great-grandchildren; Liam O’Brien, Corey and Mason Anderson, Grayson Williamson, Colby and Hudson Restiaux, Kiana Warwick and Aryana O’Brien, his brothers; Chris (Barbara) O’Brien and Peter O’Brien of Birmingham, England, his sisters; Kathleen (Gerry) Gray of Powell River, B.C., Josephine (Eamon) Maloney, Breda (Chris) McGuinness and Rita Hayes all of Limerick, Ireland along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Pat was preceded in death by his parents; James and Ellen O’Brien, his sisters; Margaret and Mary, his great-grandson; Hunter Restiaux and by his son-in-law; Cyr Poitras.

Pat served in the Royal Airforce as an Airbase Medic 5 years and was very proud of his service. After immigrating to Canada and calling Vernon, B.C his home, he began his career as a psychiatric nurse at Delview Hospital where he worked for 35 years. He loved camping, reading and spending time in his yard gardening. What he Pat loved more than anything was his family and spending quality time with them.

Cremation preceded a Celebration of Pat’s Life which will be held at Bethel Funeral Chapel on Monday, April 13th, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Josh Langner officiating. A Reception will follow in the Tea Room at the conclusion of the service.

The family would like to encourage those who will be attending the service to wear something green in honour of dad and his Irish heritage.
