Patrik Laurent De Marre
Jan. 3, 1950 – April 28, 2014
It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Patrik on April 28 2014 in Vernon.
Patrik was born on Jan 3rd 1950 in Gentburgge, Belgium. He was the seventh child of a family of twelve.
In 1976 Patrik immigrated to Canada where he was joined by his partner, Jesse Reypens. Shortly thereafter they settled in Vernon where they raised two children, Niko and Eva.
Patrik was first of all a loving and dedicated father and spouse. He was very much engaged in life, always interested in new adventures and meeting new people. His warm and inspiring personality together with a witty sense of humor made him many friends and connections over the years.
Patrik was a man of varied talents and an active outdoors’ man. He thrived while engaging in activities such as camping, hiking, canoeing and kayaking and he took his family on many of such outings. Later on in life he became a dedicated meditator.
Faced with adversity, Patrik’s courage, determination and ability to do it all with a smile was and remains an inspiration to all. Heartfelt thanks to the dedicated group of friends who supported Patrik and especially the amazing staff at Polson Special who took care of Patrik’s last years of life. Yours is a work of Love.
Patrik is survived by his two children Niko and Eva De Marre, his partner Jesse Reypens and his brothers and sisters Francoise, Jean, Anne, Bernadette, Nicolas, Vincent, Sebastien, Catherine, Claire, Benoit and Bernard, the majority of whom still reside in Europe.
We welcome all friends and family to join us in celebrating the life and times of Patrik on Saturday, May 24th at 2:00 pm at the Shubert Centre. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Alzheimers’ Society at email@example.com Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Pleasant Valley Dignity Funeral Home 250-542-4333.
