Paul Alexander Mackiewich
We regret to announce the sudden, unexpected passing on February 21, 2008, of Paul Alexander Mackiewich at 61 years of age. Paul was born on July 3, 1946 in Vernon to Thomas and Nancy Mackiewich, who have predeceased him.
His life was spent in Vernon, being educated in many of the schools that his children and grandchildren have and are attending.
He was employed at various establishments in Vernon prior to being employed by the Vernon Jubilee Hospital in 1974, retiring in 2006 while working for the amalgamated Interior Health Authority in Kelowna.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Laura, his son Carey who held a special part of his father’s heart, daughter Stacey Falconer with whom he shared a special sense of humor. Both of these children shared many of father’s traits, especially when he shared his heritage of being Ukrainian, trying to instill in them the importance of where your roots come from.
He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Tia, Taylor, Thomas, Ashton and Chelbie, all of whom he loved and cherished more than anything else on this earth. Paul also shared a special relationship with; Teresa, trying to teach her to cook and enjoy meals that contained onions; Grant, whom he taught the fine art of collecting tools and occasionally showing him how they worked; and to round out our family, the addition of Monica, who cooked an excellent supper to show Paul that she was up to the challenge of matching his skills in the kitchen.
He is further survived by his brothers Pete (Paulette) and Mike (Marla) and sister Vi (Bob) Brett, all of Vernon. He leaves numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, cousins, and many extended family members and friends, too many to mention at this time.
Funeral services will be held at Pleasant Valley Funeral Home on Friday, February 29, at 1:30 P.M. with Mr. Brian Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Tea will be served in the Tea Room of Pleasant Valley Funeral Home following interment.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Paul may be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements are in the care of VERNON FUNERAL HOME 250.542.0155
