We regret to announce the death of Pauline Legg on May 7, 2004, at the age of 89 years. Pauline will be missed and lovingly remembered by her brother-in-law Clifford (Jean) Patenaude, nephew; Wayne (Jacqueline) Patenaude and daughter; Vanessa in Montreal, 3 nieces Linda (George) Browne and son Dustin in Burnaby, Louise (John) Roberts in Vernon, and Lori (Bob) and daughter Kimberly in Surrey. Pauline also leaves extended family throughout Canada and the USA. Pauline was predeceased by her best friend and husband Peter George Legg (1994). Pauline graduated from UBC and became a school teacher. She taught one year in Vernon before joining in the war effort. Pauline served as an Officer in the RCAF in Ottawa during the Second World War. Returning here after the war, she again accepted a teaching post. Pauline taught and was a school counselor until retirement. Many of those years were spent at Seaton School. Pauline was a long-term supporter of many causes and charities, both locally and beyond our borders.
She was instrumental in starting many groups and organizations in Vernon and worked very hard to help this area expand culturally. A very short list would include the Vernon Music School, The Parkinson’s Support Group, The Canadian Club and the University Women’s Club. Pauline was named Vernon Good Citizen of the Year in 2001. It was a well deserved honour and a well cherished one in her heart.
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Pleasant Valley Funeral Home with Mr. Brian Jackson officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations can be made in her memory to The Community Foundation of the North Okanagan, P.O. Box 454, Vernon, BC, V1T 6M4 (542-8677).
