Fly fisherman off to fishing hole nirvana!!
Predeceased by his wife Nancy (Caldwell). Survived by his brother John, by four children - Allan, Robert, Janet and Anne and their families including his seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Born to Emerson and Margaret (Delaney) on October 28, 1935, in Dalhousie New Brunswick, Peter valued education, hard work and integrity. He attended Mount Allison University (BSc '57) where he met his wife Nancy and went on to study medicine at McGill University (MD '60).
He completed residency in Montreal and thereafter a fellowship in Ophthalmology at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF). Peter had a successful career specializing in cataract surgery at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal and continued his career through the 1990s in Vernon, BC. Peter was an avid reader with an encyclopedic knowledge of wars, politics, history, wildlife, and current events. His true passion was fly fishing,travelling the rivers of New Brunswick, Quebec and Newfoundland, followed by exploring remote lakes in BC's interior in his trusted 1988 Toyota 4x4 with his fishing friends Rick and Ken.
Peter lived and dreamed to fly fish, and he enjoyed enlisting all who showed an interest, building them rods and tying custom flies including the famed "Dexter" that many a fish found simply too hard to resist. Dad unfortunately developed and ultimately succumbed to pulmonary fibrosis. Thank you to the doctors of the Vernon Jubilee Hospital who provided exemplary care: Dr. Harold Yacyshyn, Dr. Michael Murphy, Dr. J. Andrew Spencer and Dr. Ron Long. Thank you also to grandson Peter, who participated in many intellectual discussions while providing companionship to dad for the past several years at Gramp's winter house in Calgary.
