June 10, 1927 - April 26, 2022
Peter was born near Melville, Sask. on June 10, 1927. At age 15 he finished his confirmation in the Lutheran Church, and joined his family already living in Enderby.
He trained in many trades before being employed by the City of Enderby at age 20. Also, at that age, he met and wed Noraleen Benson, also of Saskatchewan. Together they raised three children, a son and twin daughters, and later a granddaughter. In total, mom and dad were married for 70 years with 24 grandkids and counting.
They resided in Enderby all their adult lives together with their families close at hand. Their home was the centre for family gatherings, and relatives visiting from distant locations knew they always had a place to stay and were well fed during their visits. Mom and dad enjoyed "farming", their lot on a small scale, as well as bowling, curling, and many trips to Reno with their friends. The family "bond", was secured by their many events which drew all the families together.
Mom passed at 89 years of age after a lengthy bout with dementia, dad had visited her daily without fail. Being left alone, dad fell into despair and his mental and physical health deteriorated. He was admitted to Vernon Jubilee Hospital, at death's door, where his life improved dramatically.
Thanks to the efforts of staff, he improved to a point of being accepted into Hillside Village Seniors complex in Salmon Arm. A man whom our family had never known appeared, "a comedian". He survived almost another three years, in comfort and happiness thanks to encouraging notes from family, and the dedication of medical staff and associates at both locations. Sadly, at almost 95 years, surrounded by family, our father passed to be with mom. Our family is truly grateful.
