Rachel Nash

Rachel passed away peacefully on December 15, 2009 at Pleasant valley manor in Armstrong. She was born Gertrude Rachel Shields near Fletts Springs Saskatchewan on January 13, 1923 the fourth of nine children.

Her greatest accomplishment was moving her family, on a wing and a prayer, to BC in 1959. Her family was her greatest joy and she welcomed everyone into her home. She always had a full meal ready and waiting in case anyone showed up. She enjoyed her small garden always having tomatoes and cucumbers to share. She was a long standing member of the Royal Canadian Legion to honor her father and brothers who fought in the great wars.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Ann (Ed ) Ziola, and Paulette (Wayne) Webb, 3 sons, John (Debbie) L’Henaff, Frank (Caroling) L’Henaff and Robert L’Henaff, 13 grandchildren and 10 great- grancdchildren, 2 sisters, Margaret Harmon and Norah Strachan and 1 brother Walter Shields.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 19, 2009, at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Personal Alternative Funeral Services, Armstrong. Pastor Jake Klassen officiating.
