Ralph Ambley Rose

Ralph Ambley Rose

Ralph Ambley Rose was born on October 8th, 1930 in Blackpool, Lancashire, England and passed away on November 7th, 2009 in the North Okanagan Hospice, Vernon, B.C. at the age of 79 years.

Ralph will be lovingly remembered by his wife Myrel, to whom he was married for 55 years; his sister-in-law, Dorothy Williams; two nieces, Angie and Debbie Williams; two nephews, James Williams and Tony Peacock; and his favourite cousin, Doris Barnes, all in England. The many dear friends whom Ralph had the joy of sharing his life with will miss him very much. These friends are Frank & Lyn Anderson and Mary Keith of Vernon, B.C., Eric & Ivy Bird and Dora Hume of England, Ron & Betty Briggeman and Otto & Johanna Klaus of Calgary, Alberta, Betty Durrant of Vernon, B.C., Vivian & Joan Teasdale of Edmonton, Alberta, Michelle Goode and Mike & Shawna Buffie of Vernon, B.C., Ron & Annette Walker of Edmonton, Alberta and Rob Rossignal of Vernon, B.C.

Ralph came to Canada in 1957, settling in Edmonton, Alberta where he was employed with the Research Council Of Alberta as an oil and gas technologist. While in Edmonton Ralph and Myrel were involved in ballroom dancing and were twice the Alberta ballroom dancing champions. Ralph chose to retire at the age of 55 so in 1988 he and Myrel came to Vernon where they made their home so they could enjoy retirement to the fullest. They traveled extensively all over the world but their favourite little “piece of heaven” was always back in beautiful B.C., relaxing at their cabin on Shuswap Lake. Ralph was a devoted husband, a great lover of animals and was known as a very nice man with a “puckish” sense of humour. He will be missed and dearly remembered.

In respecting Ralph’s wishes, he was cremated and there will be no Funeral Service held. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Ralph to the B.C. Heart & Stroke Foundation, #4-1551 Sutherland Avenue, Kelowna, B.C. V1Y 9M9 or the North Okanagan Hospice Society, 3506-27th Avenue, Vernon, B.C. V1T 1S4
