Ralph Morgan Casperson
passed away in the Gateby Care Centre on November 12th, 2014 at the age of 82 years.
Ralph leaves behind his loving wife, Mary Keith and her three sons, Jim, David and John; and her two grandchildren, Charlie and David. He is also survived by his three sons, David, Gary and Lee and their partners, Jennifer, Jessica and Tara; his daughter-in-law, Kerry; two grandchildren, Nathan and Kaitlyn; his brothers and sisters, Bodil, Doris, Roy, Keith and Art and numerous extended family members. He was preceded in death by one brother, Aage (Johny).
Ralph was born at Glenside, Saskatchewan on December 15th, 1931 to Ole and Anna Casperson. He spent most of his youth in Vancouver, B.C., where he first acquired his love for mountain climbing and amateur wrestling. He went on to claim four victories in the Canadian Championships and represented Canada at the British Empire Games, the Pan American Games and the World Championships – Manchester 1965.
Ralph spent most of his working life at BC Hydro, moving to Vernon in 1966. While at Hydro, he also pursued his passion for photography and frequently photographed Hydro and other amateur sporting events. On retirement from Hydro, he became a full-time professional photographer, capturing many local scenes, weddings, graduations and other special moments. Ralph was known for his well landscaped yards, supporting the local arts, and a love of history.
Cremation preceded a Celebration Of Ralph’s Life which will take place at Bethel Funeral Chapel on Saturday, November 22nd, 2014 at 1:30 P.M. A Reception will follow in the Bethel Tea Room.
