RALPH JESSIE

RALPH JESSIE

On October 18, 2011, Ralph Jessie peacefully passed away at the Polson Extended Care Unit in his 90th year. The first of five children, Ralph was born on October 25th, 1921, in Flint, Texas, to his parents, Lozzie and Mary Lou Dixon (Jessie).

At an early age Ralph and his family attended Corinth Baptist Church, Bullock, TX. He received his primary education at Limber Log School in the Corinth Community and attended Stanton High School, Whitehouse, TX. He was united in marriage to L E Roach (predeceased) and to that union was three children: Bobbie, Larry, and Carolyn.

As a young man he loved playing baseball and was an outstanding pitcher and first, second, and third base player. He could have easily been on a minor league team with his skills. He discovered early that he was pretty good at whatever he set his mind to do, sports, cooking, and entertainment of the grandest style, fishing and gambler extraordinaire! He loved people and he loved life!

Ralph’s love for life offered him a great career with many years of service with the NBC network in San Francisco, CA. Following the death of his wife Rozzie, he met and married Sherry Rossiter of Vernon, BC. Soon after their union, Ralph retired from NBC and they began building their retirement home at Parker Cove, an outstanding community where they planned to retire and live out their lives together.

Since coming to Vernon in 1994, Ralph was dedicated to caring for his dear Sherry, who had suffered a disabling aneurysm. He was a good friend to many in his Parker Cove community. Special thanks from the family to the loving, caring staff at the Polson Extended Care Unit who went all out for their beloved Ralph.

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Sherry, who also resides in the Polson Extended Care Unit: his sister, Mary Lois Marshall (Fred) of Tyler TX; his son, predeceased Bobbie Jessie (Liza) of Dallas, TX; his daughter, Carolyn Jessie Hayes (Bennie) of Tucson, AZ; and his son, Larry Jessie (Connie) of Upland, CA; his brothers-in-laws, Gordon Rossiter (Cindy) of Calgary, AB; Donald Rossiter (MaryAnn) of Vernon, BC; twelve grandchildren, many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of close friends in Texas, California, and Canada. Special thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Wolf who showed themselves as more than friends throughout Ralph and Sherry’s stay at Parker Cove and at the Polson Extended Care Unit.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:30 PM at the Bistro Room in Polson Extended Care on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011. In lieu of flowers donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
