With his loving family surrounding him, Ralph Joseph Armstrong, at the age of 86 years, passed away September 11, 2009 at Hospice House, Vernon, British Columbia. Born April 5, 1923 in Keeler, Saskatchewan, Ralph spent his early years farming in Saskatchewan before serving with the RCAF in W.W.II based in England. Following the war he did custom combining in the USA and into Canada. Edna Oswald found the most handsome gentleman, Ralph Armstrong, and they were married in 1950 in Calgary, Alberta where they raised their seven children. For the last twenty years they have lived in the Okanagan. Ralph was a kind, generous, gentle person with a wonderful sense of humour.
He will be forever loved by his wife, Edna, to whom he was married for fifty-nine years; his children: Larry (Jude) Armstrong, Butch Armstrong (Beth Watt), Wayne Armstrong, Bonnie Armstrong (Jim Aiello) Carol (Rob) Smith, Rob Armstrong (Susan O’Keefe) and Terry-Lynn (Pat) Carswell; and eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Dawn Armstrong.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so may make a donation in Ralph’s memory to North Okanagan Hospice Society, 3506 – 27th Avenue, Vernon, BC V1T 1S4.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Schubert Centre, 3505 – 30th Avenue, Vernon on Friday, September 18, 2009 at 2:00 p.m.
